Step by step guide to recover files deleted from Recycle Bin

Recycle bin is a special directory where the files that are deleted from the hard drives using Windows Explorer or the desktop reside. When you delete the files using Shift+Delete keys or command prompt, they bypass the Recycle Bin. Deleting files from removable storage devices such as memory cards, USB drives etc also bypass the Recycle Bin. Separate Recycle Bin is created in the Recycler folder for every different user who logs into the computer.

Recycle Bin can also be configured as needed by the users. Generally, Recycle Bin is allocated with 10% of storage capacity of hard drive in order to store recycled files. This default value can also be changed using the sliding bar. The files that are stored on Recycle Bin occupy the same storage space as they were occupying on hard drive. Thus, the best option is to empty the Recycle Bin if they are not needed further to perform any operation. The files that have been moved to Recycle Bin can be restored if you need them back. But, the bypassed files cannot be restored from the Recycle Bin. In such condition, you need to use reliable computer file undeleting program.

Common data loss scenarios are as follows:

Accidental deletion of files using Shift+Del keys or command prompt: As deletion of files using Shift+Del keys bypasses the Recycle Bin, accidental deletion of files using command prompt or Shift+Del keys results in loss of files. For the permanently deletion you have to use this application to recoup photo or any other files.

Accidentally emptying the Recycle Bin: When you select the "Empty the Recycle Bin" option, the files stored in Recycle Bin folder are deleted permanently. If the Recycle Bin folder contains important files or folders then accidentally clicking on "Empty the Recycle Bin" option may results in file loss. You can also delete files from Recycle Bin folder using Windows explorer. Accidentally deleting folder that contains confidential files instead of empty folder may also result in loss of files. You can now retrieve deleted files from PC by using computer file recovery software. There are some situations in which you may lose files from hard drive.

Loss of files due to oversize Recycle Bin: If you end with deleting a file whose size is larger than Recycle Bin size then it bypasses the Recycle Bin folder hence resulting in loss of files. Generally, when Recycle Bin reaches the maximum storage capacity then it automatically starts deleting the old files. Therefore, it is better to delete the non essential files from the Recycle Bin.
